Amazon India’s Prime Day Makes $600 Million In Two Days

Amazon India’s Prime Day was the first major event since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

The sale has surpassed the daily numbers of its flagship sale during Diwali in 2019. It brought in over $600 million in two days of Prime Day sale as there was a huge demand for products, mainly electronics. It was reported by TOI that the gross aggregate numbers for Prime Day sales will be still lower as the Diwali sale happens over a period of five days.

Amazon India head Amit Agarwal told TOI that this was its biggest Prime Day ever. He said, “Prime Day 2020 was the biggest 48 hours ever for small and medium sellers on Amazon India. We had the highest participation of nearly 1 lakh sellers.

According to sources, analysts and sellers, initial estimate of the sale was around $400-500 million across 48 hours, but the continuous demand for goods through e-commerce gave a boost to the event. Electronics, smartphones, small and large appliances are the top-grossing categories whereas fashion and food items saw less traction.
